After four years of struggle, Maxima Acuña Atalaya finally receives justice

Woman Human Rights Defender, Maxima Acuña Atalaya was finally acquitted by the Court of Appeals.

In 2011, she was groundlessly accused of illegal occupation by mining company Yanacocha, a Peruvian subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corportation. For four years, Maxima has been dragged from Court to court in the effort of seeking justice and to demand for her rights to be respect.
